NEW DELHI: The Indian cricket team, led by captain Rohit Sharma , met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday morning. After the meeting, the team, accompanied by head coach Rahul Dravid , departed for Mumbai.
Earlier, stringent security measures were implemented at the Indira Gandhi International Airport to manage the crowd, but the enthusiasm of the fans remained undeterred. They cheered enthusiastically, holding posters of star batter Virat Kohli , skipper Rohit Sharma, and the outgoing head coach Rahul Dravid.
Two buses were stationed outside the T3 Terminal to transport the players to the ITC Maurya Sheraton hotel, where they were greeted with traditional Bhangra dancers and dhol performances.
Several players, including Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya , Suryakumar Yadav , and Rishabh Pant, joined the dancers, creating a memorable experience for all involved.
Even the on-duty security personnel seemed to enjoy the celebratory atmosphere as the players interacted with the assembled crowd, shook hands, and made their way to their rooms after cutting a celebratory cake prepared for their arrival.
These events unfolded amidst the expected media frenzy. Shortly after, the team left to meet Prime Minister Modi at his official residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, as part of their hectic schedule for the day. They spent approximately two hours at the Prime Minister's residence before returning to the hotel.
